Great job on taking the first step towards healing and growth. It can be kind of scary to go to therapy especially if you don’t know what to expect. Here is a list of frequently asked questions I have been asked previously. If you have additional questions, please call 919-205-4649.

How long do counseling sessions typically last?

Typically, a counseling session will last approximately 50 minutes. For the initial session with couples, an hour and a half is blocked off to ensure that enough time is available to meet with both parties individually and then jointly to discuss perceived problems and goals for treatment.

What happens during the first counseling session?

During the first counseling session we will cover the consent for treatment, confidentiality and the exceptions to that rule, the problem that brings you to therapy, and what you hope to accomplish in therapy.

How often will I need to come to counseling?

I have found that, and it is supported through research, that therapy is most effective when done on a weekly basis.

How long will I need to come to counseling?

Typically, most problems are able to be resolved in 6-12 sessions. At the 6th session, we will have a discussion about the progress that has been made so far in treatment and if there is more work to do or if it would be best to terminate our work together.

How much do sessions cost?

Initial sessions cost $150 and are an hour and a half long. Couple sessions are $125 and are 50 minutes. Individual sessions are $100 and are 50 minutes.

Are sessions covered by my insurance?

I am not currently accepting insurance. However, check with your insurance company regarding your out of network benefits and getting reimbursed for those services.

How do I seek reimbursement from my insurance company?

Typically, you need to submit a super bill for the service you are requesting reimbursement . I am happy to provide all needed information to simplify the process. I am also partnered with Reimbursify which will also help you submit your request for reimbursement, as well as, track the progress of the claim and send you notifications regarding the status. You can learn more about it here.

Do you have evening and weekend appointments available?

Yes, Sessions are available every Wednesday evening and Saturday morning.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions will occur in the office or via video chat through a HIPAA compliant service. For more information regarding using Video conferencing for therapy, please call 919-205-4649

What if counseling isn't working?

If we come to the conclusion that I am not the best fit for you and your needs at this time, let’s talk about it so that I may offer you some alternative options for service providers. Your therapist should not be a barrier to you seeking treatment.
